What it is

The inpatient order sheet: medicines, investigations, imaging, diet, nursing, activity, consults and monitoring, all on one page against the admission. Each kind carries what its kind needs — a drug order without a route is refused by the database, not by a reminder. An active order is not actionable until a nurse acknowledges it, and acknowledging is what places the lab requisition, tells the kitchen, and makes a dose schedulable on the eMAR. Verbal and telephone orders are marked as such when they are written down and owe a prescriber’s countersign inside the ward’s own window, with an overdue queue for the ones that do not get it. Admission and post-operative order sets apply as one act, versioned and frozen the moment they are published.

Rules it keeps

What it does not do, by design. A listing with only benefits is an advertisement.

It will not let an acknowledged order be edited — a change is a new order that supersedes the old one, and the database refuses the edit.

The prescriber cannot acknowledge their own order, and a published order set can never be changed, only versioned.
