What GasLog does

Pre-anaesthetic assessment, intra-op record with device-fed vitals, and recovery scoring — attached to the surgical case.

How you actually use it

  1. Open a record against the listed caseThe desk shows the cases on today’s theatre list that have no anaesthetic record yet.
  2. Pre-op firstASA grade, airway assessment and the fasting confirmation, written before induction rather than reconstructed after it. The record will not sign without the grade and a confirmed fasting status.
  3. Record the technique and the agentsWhat was used and in what order, on the record rather than on the anaesthetist’s memory of the list.
  4. Snapshot the vitals, log what happensA snapshot is a stamped row; an event is a line with its time. Neither is reconstructed afterwards.
  5. Score recovery, then signAldrete, then discharge from recovery. Signing turns the record into a document rather than a page somebody can still tidy.
