A few hours’ observation without a ward: bays, the NEWS2 chart, the clock against your own limit, and a decision to discharge, admit or transfer.
Installs with TriageLine, whose screen it works onAn urgent-care centre keeps a patient for a few hours — a head injury watched, a drip run, pain settled — without a ward. From triage, Observe opens a short stay in one of the centre’s own bays (one patient to a bay, one open stay per patient), and the department’s team stays on the patient until it ends. Each observation set is scored on NEWS2 by the same scorer the ward uses, and its vitals go on the patient’s chart. The stay’s clock runs from arrival against the centre’s own limit — the hours it enters with its source, such as its observation-unit policy or the licence it holds; none ships, and without one the clock only counts. A prescriber ends the stay: discharge, admit (a ward bed requested exactly as triage requests one) or transfer, saying where to.
