What LabLink does

A link, not an account — the same shape as the patient portal, with no session and the laboratory resolved from the link itself. A referring doctor sees their own referrals, places an order in seconds against one of them, and gets the result when the lab VERIFIES it: values appear only once a signed report exists, never straight off the bench. Serial trends run across the orders that doctor placed and no others. A critical value is pushed to that doctor — emailed through the messaging engine where the referral register holds an address, and waiting on their link either way — and the loop closes only when they acknowledge it from that link, stamped with the referrer the link resolved to. The link expires, and the lab can revoke it.

How you actually use it

1. 1Hand out a linkOn the Links tab pick a doctor from your referral register and press Make a link. The link is copied for you to send; it is not an account, it expires, and Revoke takes it back.
2. 2Share a result backOn Shared results give the lab order and the referring doctor. The service refuses a share to a doctor who has no referral on record for that patient, and an order already shared cannot be shared twice.
3. 3See what each doctor can seeEvery shared order with its state: with the lab, or verified so the doctor can see it. The doctor’s link shows values only once a signed report exists.
4. 4Push a critical valueOn Critical values pick the shared order and write the message. Where the lab holds an email address for that doctor the push is handed to the messaging engine and the dispatch is kept beside the alert; a doctor registered on a phone number alone still raises the alert on the desk, with nothing sent. A second unacknowledged critical on the same order is refused, and a repeat on the same analyte rides the first dispatch rather than sending again.
5. 5Wait for the acknowledgementEach critical shows waiting until the doctor acknowledges it from their own link, which is the only thing that closes it.

What it does not do

It does not show a referring doctor anybody else’s patients — every read is scoped to the orders shared with them — and it does not release a value before the report is verified.
