What DrugRecall does

Name the batches a recall letter covers and they stop leaving the shelf at once — not sold at the counter, not issued to a ward, not transferred, not used on a patient — because the rule sits on the stock ledger itself rather than in any one of the five apps that take stock off a shelf. The same notice lists everybody who already received one, from the counter and from the ward trolley both, and every contact attempt is its own row: two unanswered calls and a letter is three rows.

How you actually use it

  1. Raise the notice from the letter in your handWho says so — a CDSCO alert, a manufacturer letter, a distributor — their reference, the date, urgent or advisory, and what the notice says; a recall names at least one batch this hospital holds or held.
  2. The batch stops movingA batch named on an open notice cannot be dispensed, issued to a ward, transferred or consumed — the trigger sits on the stock movement itself, because five different writers take stock off a shelf; a vendor return and a write-off stay allowed, because that is how recalled stock leaves.
  3. Work the patient listThe notice lists everyone the batch went to, with a contact count against each name, read from what dispensing and ward consumption already recorded.
  4. Record every attemptHow you tried — phone, letter, email or visit — and what came of it: reached them, no answer, they brought it back, or they declined; every attempt is its own row, so two unanswered calls and a letter is three rows.
  5. Close only when both are trueClose the recall is refused while a unit is still on a shelf, and refused while somebody who was given the batch has no attempt against it — both are constraints, and the screen prints the refusal it gets.

What it does not do

A vendor return and a write-off are still allowed on a recalled batch, because that is how it leaves the building.
