What SurgiCount does

Baseline, first and final counts recorded live by the scrub team; a discrepancy triggers the retained-item protocol — recount, field check, imaging — and the case cannot document closure until the count reconciles or an override is co-signed.

How you actually use it

  1. Open a count sheet against the caseOne open sheet per case — a second one is refused, because two sheets mean neither is the count.
  2. Count inOne row per item — swabs, instruments, needles — before the incision.
  3. Count outThe sheet compares the two numbers itself. Where they disagree, escalate: the discrepancy snapshots both counts and asks what was done — recount, field check, imaging.
  4. Close the sheetIt closes when every item reconciles and every discrepancy carries a resolution stamp. Anything less and it stays open, which is the point of it.
