What OTConsign does

Consignment implants stand on the theatre shelf and belong to the vendor until they are inside a patient. A piece is marked used only against the implant record the scrub nurse wrote at the table, an expired piece cannot be used at all, and the vendor’s invoice is assembled from pieces that are already used — each of them exactly once, and only for the vendor who owns them.

How you actually use it

  1. Book a piece onto the shelfOn the Shelf tab, Book a piece onto the shelf: the vendor, which shelf (a store room), what it is, the catalogue number, lot, serial, expiry and the vendor’s price, then Book it in. Consignment stock is the vendor’s until it is used, and nothing here touches the store ledger. The database refuses the same serial twice for one vendor.
  2. Mark it used against the implant recordOn the shelf row, Used in which case… lists the implant records the scrub nurse wrote at the table — device columns only — then Used. The service refuses a piece that is not still on the shelf and in date, an implant record that is not this hospital’s, and one that already accounts for a piece.
  3. Send back what was not usedSend back asks why it is going back. A used piece cannot go back — it is inside somebody.
  4. Record the vendor’s invoiceThe To invoice tab lists every used piece not yet on an invoice. Tick the pieces, pick the vendor, type their invoice number and its date, then Record it. Every piece has to be this vendor’s and already used, a piece is invoiced once, and a vendor invoice number already recorded is refused.
  5. Read the invoicesThe Invoices tab lists each vendor invoice with its date, number, pieces and amount.
