What it is

Dengue, malaria, measles and the notifiable list extracted from diagnoses into IDSP S/P/L forms, with unusual clustering flagged to the district surveillance officer. The leprosy register keeps NLEP cases as the clinician classified them (PB or MB), each supervised MDT dose, and the WHO disability grade at diagnosis and at release — release from treatment refused until the course the clinic set from its NLEP guideline (doses, months, interval; none ships) is complete, with defaulters and lapsed windows shown. The heat-illness register records each heat case — the core temperature on arrival and where it was taken, the cooling and every temperature through it, timed against the clinic’s own cooling target with its source (none ships), the outcome — and puts the case on the IDSP line list under the disease the clinic counts heat illness as.

How it works

Set the outbreak thresholdsOn the Outbreaks tab name a disease, a village or ward and the cases per week that count as an outbreak. Without a threshold nothing is flagged.
Enter cases, or count them off a visitThe Cases tab takes disease, age, sex, area, onset date and whether it was lab confirmed. The Syndromic tab lists today’s visits so a syndrome can be counted straight off one; a visit already counted for that syndrome is refused.
Prepare the weekOn the Weekly tab pick the Monday and the form (S, P or L) and press Prepare and scan. The line list is computed from the cases whose onset falls in that week, so a case keyed in late appears on the week it belongs to.
Investigate the alertsPreparing or scanning a week raises an alert wherever a disease in an area beat its threshold, and each alert shows its hours open against the investigation clock. Close it as contained, referred or false alarm; findings are required.
Record the acknowledgementIHIP is not connected. Record ack writes down the reference the portal gave the person who keyed the return in by hand. Leprosy cases, their MDT doses and release are kept on the Leprosy tab.
