What ColdChain does

Sensor feeds logged continuously; excursions open an incident with the affected stock listed, not just a beep.

How you actually use it

  1. Register every unit with its bandEach fridge, freezer and cold room takes a name, a min °C, a max °C and the interval in minutes it is meant to be checked; a max at or below the min is refused, and so is a second active unit of the same name.
  2. Log the readingThe °C box on the unit card records it; a reading on a retired unit is refused by the insert itself, and a temperature outside plausibility is refused as a broken probe rather than accepted as a reading.
  3. An out-of-band reading opens an excursionThe excursion is opened in the same transaction as the reading, and there is one open per unit — a warm fridge is one problem, not one per reading.
  4. Close with what was actually doneClose with action asks the question in those words and will not close without an answer; the closed row keeps the action and the name of whoever closed it.
  5. Overdue is arithmeticEach card compares the last reading against that unit’s own expected interval on every load and says overdue with the interval beside it; nothing about the overdue state is stored.
