What CleftJourney does

The multi-year cleft pathway: staged surgical windows by age, speech therapy blocks, dental/ortho coordination, and family support — one child, one plan, fifteen years.

How you actually use it

1. 1Enrol on the date of birthThe form takes lip, palate or lip and palate, the side, and the date of birth; the plan starts on the dob, so a stage dated at ninety days means three months of age whether the child was enrolled at birth or at two.
2. 2Record each surgical stageLip repair, palate repair, fistula repair, bone graft or rhinoplasty, each with its surgeon; a stage already on this journey is refused, and so is a surgery with no surgeon named.
3. 3Band the speechIntelligibility is normal, mild, moderate or severe, with therapy recommended as a tick; the last band is what the registry carries as the verdict on the palate.
4. 4Read stages done against stages dueAge, the stages recorded, the stages still owed and the last speech band are all computed in the select on every load — none of them is stored.
5. 5Stop with a reasonStop asks why the child is leaving the cleft journey, and only an active enrolment can be stopped.

What it does not do

It does not lose a child between stages — a missed window escalates to outreach.
