What it is

Who eats on the house, and the coupon that proves it. A member of staff or the relative sleeping beside an inpatient gets an entitlement — so many meals a day, between two dates — and the day’s coupons are printed from it. The counter redeems a coupon by its serial, and the kitchen reads one number off this app: how many breakfasts, lunches, teas and dinners are due today, and how many were actually eaten.

How it works

Grant the entitlementPick the member of staff, or the admission whose attendant is staying, and say how many meals a day and between which dates.
Print the day’s couponsChoose the sittings. Asking for more than the entitlement allows is refused, not quietly trimmed.
Redeem at the counterType or scan the serial. A coupon for another day, or one already eaten, is turned down with the reason.
Send the kitchen the countThe counts screen is what the production list reads — issued and redeemed, per sitting, staff and attendants apart.

Rules it keeps

What it does not do, by design. A listing with only benefits is an advertisement.

It does not cook.

There is no menu here and no dish on a coupon — the kitchen’s own production list reads the counts.

A coupon is redeemable on its own date and no other, and the date comes from the hospital’s clock rather than the counter’s.

An entitlement cannot hand out more meals in a day than it grants, and an attendant meal needs somebody still in the bed.

A coupon shows which bed an attendant belongs to, never the patient’s name.
