A varicose vein patient is staged per leg on the CEAP classification (2020 revision, Lurie et al., J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord 2020) by the clinician: the clinical class C0 to C6, with C2r and C6r for recurrence and C4a, C4b and C4c, marked symptomatic or not; the etiology; the anatomy (superficial, perforator, deep, or none identified) with the segments; and the pathophysiology. The CEAP line reads as clinicians write it, for example C4a,s Ep As,p Pr. The duplex mapping stays with the vascular technologist and its finding is recorded as reported. Every sclerotherapy, foam, endovenous laser, radiofrequency, glue, phlebectomy or compression review session is logged against the latest stage of that leg, with the agent and amount as the clinician wrote them and whether the leg is better, the same or worse; a session is refused on a leg not yet staged. Each leg shows its class at baseline next to its class now.
