What SickleWatch does

Crisis episodes with severity and triggers, hydroxyurea monitoring bloods, transcranial doppler schedules for children, and vaccination status always visible.

How you actually use it

  1. Enrol on the sickle cell yearPick the patient and the genotype — HbSS, HbSC, HbS/β+, HbS/β0 or other — and enrolling creates the careplans plan and dates its milestones in one transaction.
  2. Log the crisesRecord a crisis with its kind — vaso-occlusive, acute chest, splenic sequestration, aplastic or priapism — and whether it needed admission, then resolve it when it ends.
  3. Let the ANC decide the hydroxyureaMonitoring bloods take the Hb, the ANC and the platelets, and a low ANC on the newest bloods flags the hydroxyurea as held — computed on every load rather than stored.
  4. Record the DopplerA transcranial Doppler velocity is banded normal, conditional or abnormal in the SELECT, needs a recorded birth date and an age the service checks, and an abnormal one raises transfusion programme at the top of the registry.
  5. Watch what is dueThe registry row carries Doppler due, retinal due, the crises and admissions of the last year, the current hydroxyurea dose and the count of overdue milestones.
