What ShiftBalance does

This is not a separate app, and it was deliberately not built as one. Fairness across a rota is a READ of the rota — it writes nothing, it has no user the rota manager is not, and a second rota beside the first is exactly what a fairness screen must never become. So it shipped as the Balance tab inside StaffDesk: over any period you choose, each person’s shifts, nights, weekend duties, weekend nights, on-call windows, longest run of consecutive nights and approved leave, with the spread between the busiest and the quietest at the top.

What it reads

What it writes

nothing — it is a read of the rota
Same patient record as every other app — nothing is copied into a silo. Data class: No PHI.

What it does not do

It writes no duty and holds no rota of its own; every number is derived from rows StaffDesk and the on-call list already keep. Nothing here is a score: it does not grade anybody, does not call a run of nights unsafe, and does not build or optimise a rota for you. There is no fatigue index in this product, because a safe number of consecutive nights is a clinical and legal judgement and inventing one would be inventing a threshold. The spread it shows is the busiest person’s count minus the quietest — a fact — and what to do about it is the rota manager’s.

Every app page carries this section. A listing with only benefits is an advertisement.
