What ScheduleX does

Schedule X/H1 registers as double-entry stock — every ampoule from receipt to administration or witnessed destruction.

How you actually use it

  1. Record the licenceA narcotics register is kept under a licence for named premises between two dates, so record the NDPS licence number, the authority and the validity first — opening an NDPS register without one is refused.
  2. Open the bookA register names the drug, the cupboard it lives in, the unit and the schedule — Schedule X, NDPS or psychotropic — and there is one book per drug per cupboard.
  3. Record receipts and issuesReceipt takes the supplier and the invoice number, issue takes the patient’s scanned id and the prescription number, and the balance is summed from the book rather than stored.
  4. Waste and destroy differentlyWaste takes its reason; destroyed under order takes a witness’s user id, the order reference and the reason, and neither can take more than the register holds.
  5. Count the cupboard and print the formA count records what was actually found and the discrepancy is arithmetic against the book, shown in red when it is not zero; Register form gives the opening and closing balances and the entries between two dates.
