What RestraintWatch does

Physical or chemical restraint as a time-limited order with mandatory periodic monitoring entries and renewal by a doctor who has seen the patient. Lapsed order, lapsed restraint — the ward board shows it red.

How you actually use it

1. 1Place the orderNew order takes the patient, physical or chemical, the hours and the reason — an order without a reason does not exist, and the database CHECK holds the ceiling at four hours physical and twenty-four chemical.
2. 2Record every monitoring check15-min check on a running order writes a monitoring entry against it, and the order’s row carries how many checks there are and the time of the last one.
3. 3Work the overdue listMonitoring overdue lists every running order whose largest gap between checks has passed twenty minutes, with the last check time and a Record check now button.
4. 4Renew as a new orderRenew asks for the re-assessment finding and writes a fresh order carrying the same ceiling — an extension in place is not offered, and a released order cannot be renewed.
5. 5Clear the expiry alarmExpired and not released is its own card at the top of the screen, and Release now is the only thing that takes a row off it.

What it does not do

It does not allow indefinite or verbal-only restraint orders to exist in the system.
