What it is

For a facility taking part in the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, whose scheme day is the 9th of every month (PMSMA, MoHFW 2016). Each PMSMA day is recorded with where it was held and the doctors who gave the checkups, volunteers included; a day held on another date is kept and marked, never refused. Every pregnant woman checked that day is logged against her record with the trimester, the tests done — blood pressure, haemoglobin, urine, ultrasound — whether the examining clinician identified her as high risk and in what words, and where she was referred. Nothing here decides a risk. One woman is logged once a day; a wrong entry is voided with a reason and stays on the log. The day’s participation record prints from the log for the facility to copy onto the programme’s certificate, and each month the report is counted — days held, women checked by trimester, tests, high risk and referrals — filed by hand and its acknowledgement recorded.
