What OptomDesk does

The optical counter — prescriptions to quotes to lab orders to collection, with stock and margins in the same view.

How you actually use it

  1. Keep the board and the catalogueOn The board and the catalogue, Add frame with brand, model and price; Add lens with its name, type (single vision, bifocal, progressive or office), material (CR39, polycarbonate, high index or glass) and price. A frame or lens already on the board is refused. Repricing never reaches a job already raised — every order carries its own price snapshot.
  2. Raise a job sheetOn Raise a job sheet, find the patient, pick the Frame… and Lens…, the lab and the expected date, and type the prescription — sph, cyl and axis for R and L. A job sheet carries exactly one prescription source, a cylinder without an axis is refused, and so are numbers outside anything an eye can be.
  3. Send to lab, receive, hand overOn the open job, Send to lab with the lab and the date promised; Received from lab when it comes back; Hand over with the fitting note — what was adjusted on the face. Overdue at the lab lists jobs past the date promised, and Ready for collection lists what is on the shelf waiting for its owner.
  4. Order a remakeOn a received or collected job, the remake reason and Order a remake; remakes are listed under the job they came from. Print Rx prints the prescription on the job.
