What StaffHealth does

The employee health file NABH’s HRM chapter asks a hospital to keep, per person: the pre-employment check, the periodic checks with the date each falls due again, the immunisation record — hepatitis B as a three-dose series with the anti-HBs titre that proves it took — and the fitness certificate with its expiry. Needlestick and splash exposures come from the Exposures register (HazMatLog) and read against the person; they are never copied. The screen leads with the due list: who is overdue for what, worked out from each file rather than ticked anywhere, and raised as a bell for HR when it goes past.

How you actually use it

1. 1Open the person’s fileEvery active member of staff has one. Record the pre-employment check, the blood group, known conditions and allergies, and the fitness certificate with the date it runs out.
2. 2Record checks as they happenThe annual medical, the chest X-ray, audiometry, vision, blood tests, the radiation badge reading. Each one carries the date it is next due — left blank, the schedule decides.
3. 3Record each hepatitis B dose, then the titreThree doses at 0, 1 and 6 months. The anti-HBs titre can be recorded once all three are on the file; 10 IU/L or more means the series took.
4. 4Work the due listOverdue first, then the next thirty days — a certificate about to lapse, a check past its date, a series never finished. HR is told by a bell when somebody goes overdue.

What it does not do

It does not hold a second exposure register, a second credential file or a document store — the exposure stays where it was reported, a medical registration is a credential, and the certificate itself is a file in DocVault. It refuses an anti-HBs titre for anybody whose three doses are not on the record, and a health file for a person who is not on this hospital’s staff list.
