What BreakGlass does

Break-glass grants with a stated reason, a hard expiry, and a mandatory after-the-fact review queue.

How you actually use it

  1. Read how it works hereThe first card says it: breaking the glass is immediate and unapprovable, and a grant is a record — it does not by itself widen what anyone can read.
  2. Break the glassGive the patient id, a reason — Emergency treatment, Unconscious patient, Mass casualty or Other with a sentence — and the minutes, then press and hold Break the glass now; a click alone does nothing, and 240 minutes is the ceiling the API enforces.
  3. Watch the sealThe panel reads Sealed while nothing is live and cracks the moment a grant is; the live grant sits in the queue below.
  4. Review every grantReview on a row takes Appropriate, Questionable or Inappropriate; anything but Appropriate needs a note, and File verdict closes it.
  5. Chase the overdueA grant unreviewed for more than seven days is marked review overdue and counted at the top of the queue.
