What it is

For hospitals and clinics in mining, quarrying and stone-working districts. Each worksite — a mine, a quarry, a crushing or carving unit, a foundry — is registered with its district and employer, and each worker with the disease suspected (silicosis, silico-tuberculosis, coal workers’ pneumoconiosis, asbestosis, byssinosis or another pneumoconiosis), the job and the years of exposure as they give them. The chest X-ray is recorded in the reader’s own words, on the ILO classification if they used it; spirometry and the TB screen beside it. A doctor confirms or rules the disease out once, with the state board’s certificate if it certified, and the decision is kept. A confirmed case is notified once, to the office your procedure names — silicosis, asbestosis and byssinosis are notifiable occupational diseases under the Factories Act, 1948 (s.89) and the Mines Act, 1952 (s.25) — and the state relief is followed from applied to sanctioned and paid, with the scheme named and the amount the state gave. No recipient, deadline or relief amount ships. The register prints by worksite.
