Roles, permissions and signing in as someone

A role is a named bundle of permissions — Doctor, Front desk, Ward nurse, Pharmacist and the rest. Every screen and every assistant answer checks the person’s own permissions, so a role decides what someone can open, not just what their menu shows.

Step by step

How to do it

  1. See who holds whatRoles lists the roles in your practice and who holds each one. Open a role to see what it can do; permissions that reach patient data or have a high impact are marked.
  2. Grant or revoke a roleGrant role adds a role to a person; revoking takes it away. Both need role.assign. A person can hold more than one role.
  3. Sign in as a colleague to check their viewOn Team, open the person and press Sign in as. A banner stays on screen while you are them, with the way back to your own account. It needs user.write and user.suspend, and it is recorded.

Paths are in the product, after you sign in; each opens only for people whose role includes it.

There is no editor for making a role of your own or changing what a role contains: you grant and revoke the roles the platform defines.
