What it is

A thyroid nodule tracked from ultrasound and fine-needle cytology through the decision for surgery, with the pre-operative and post-operative vocal cord check recorded as a required step rather than an easily-skipped one — a missed voice check is the commonest audit finding after thyroid surgery. The pathology result closes the loop back to the original cytology read.
