A patient with known G6PD deficiency is flagged the moment a prescriber reaches for a drug on the unsafe list — primaquine, certain sulfa drugs, and others that trigger haemolysis — catching the interaction at the point of prescribing rather than after the patient has already taken the dose.
It does not maintain its own drug-safety database independent of the prescribing system it flags within — it checks against the standard unsafe list.
