Every new mother is screened for postpartum depression on the standard schedule after delivery, using a validated screening tool, and a score above the threshold routes straight to a counsellor instead of waiting for the next scheduled visit to notice something is wrong.
It does not diagnose depression from the score alone — a high score routes to a counsellor for proper assessment.
