Every badge issued is logged against the person and the doors or systems it opens. When someone exits, the badge shows on a due-for-return list until it is physically collected and deactivated, so an ex-employee’s badge is never just forgotten in a drawer.
It does not control the physical door lock or access-control system itself — it is the register of who was issued what; deactivating the badge in the access system is a separate, linked step.
