A deep-brain-stimulation patient’s programming settings and symptom response are logged at every visit, alongside the battery’s remaining life, so a programmer changing a setting can see exactly what the last three visits tried and what changed. A battery approaching end-of-life is flagged well before it becomes an emergency replacement.
